Federal agency recognizes Fair Haven Community Health Care for excellence

NEW HAVEN — Fair Haven Community Health Care has been recognized as a “health center quality leader” by the Health Resources & Services Administration, according to a release.

It is the fourth year in a row that Fair Haven Community Health Care has been recognized this way, according to the health center.

The Fair Haven center is the only health center in New Haven and one of only three in Connecticut to be “designated a 2020 Gold Award Health Center Quality Leader for best overall clinical performance,” the release noted.

Fair Haven ranked among the top 10 percent of health centers nationally “on indicators such as perinatal health, preventive health screening and chronic disease management for adults and children.”

Further, Fair Haven’s behavioral health care was recognized in the top 1-2 percent “of all health centers nationally. This focuses on quality measures that promote mental health such as screening and treatment for depression.”

Another areas the health center was recognized for included leadership in advancing health information technology “in areas such as telehealth and patient care. FHCHC has grown its telehealth program dramatically, increasing access to care during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Partnering with the state, FHCHC is offering free COVID testing at the 374 Grand Ave., New Haven location from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Testing is available to everyone by calling 203-871-4179 for an appointment.
