“It’s a lot of work. I’m not trying to let anybody off the hook. You shouldn’t have major errors like this. On the other hand, there’s a lot of data and some how it gets gummed up on the works,” Husty said.

Similar issues in Florida have happened before. This time The Florida Department of Health says a technical issue caused them to sort through 400,000 previously reported results by a private laboratory called Helix.

“I don’t think this causes any real concern at all. It’s just data, what do we really see? We’re seeing it getting better and better in Central Florida. We’re seeing people doing the right thing,” Husty said.

Because of extra information, the health department said they needed to take time and work to sort out the numbers.

While there was an apparent spike in statewide cases on Saturday, the Department of Heath says, “None of the replicated test results have been included in subsequent daily reports. All reported information representing past test numbers, case counts, and positivity rates remains accurate and unaffected by replicated data.”
